Pattern, along with strong, bright colors and simple shapes, are what I enjoy creating in my current series. In these paintings, all completed during this past year, I strive to achieve a harmonious painting through the use of repeated lines, bold colors, and simple shapes. I favor acrylic paints because they provide a deep, rich appearance, and I favor colors that are on the warm side of the color wheel. My individual use of color and pattern can be termed expressive as they certainly are not true to reality.

I believe that this folkloric style is the best choice for me to convey a playful, light-hearted approach to life. The animals, birds, and scenery are those that I have enjoyed in the southwestern U.S. and Sonora, Mexico and are the most meaningful to me. I hope these paintings can bring a smile to the viewer.
